Adventure Therapy Groups

Adventure Works offers a unique opportunity to youth in DeKalb County to engage in group services to meet the social-emotional and behavioral needs in the outdoors. Groups are facilitated by mental health staff with specific training in facilitating outdoor experiences, and offer the opportunity for individuals to receive support and feedback from their peers.

Costs per participant are based on a sliding scale. All youth in DeKalb County are welcome, regardless of ability to pay.

Growth Group

For youth ages 14 - 18

Wednesdays from 3:00pm - 5:00pm

Location: Adventure Works
Facilitated by Izaiah

This group program is continuous with no defined start or end date. Group will break for holidays throughout the year. Participants will create (a) goal(s) when they begin the group service to work on and strive for each week. Once they've met their goal(s), they are able to "graduate" the group program, or, create new goals and continue! This program format allows for youth to receive regular and consistent mental health support for their needs. 

This group focuses on building social relationships, self-esteem, and emotional regulation skills through collaboration and exploration in the outdoors.

Cost assessed by sliding scale for residents of DeKalb County.

Elementary Group

For youth ages 8 - 10

Saturdays from 9:00am - 10:30am 
Start date = November 9th, 2024
Location: Adventure Works
Facilitated by Cris and Yanfei

This group program is continuous with no defined start or end date. Group will break for holidays throughout the year. Participants will create (a) goal(s) when they begin the group service to work on and strive for each week. Once they've met their goal(s), they are able to "graduate" the group program, or, create new goals and continue! This program format allows for youth to receive regular and consistent mental health support for their needs. 

This group focuses on growing skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, resilience, communication, collaboration, and self-confidence through experiential activities facilitated by two mental health professionals in the outdoors.

Parent Support Group

Open to all parents and caregivers of Adventure Works clients

Saturdays from 7:45am - 9:00am
Location: Adventure Works
Facilitated by Izaiah and Brenda

This group experiences offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with other parents, share experiences, and gain valuable insights into child development and parenting strategies.
